9a- Testing the Hypothesis part 2

Testing the Hypothesis part 2

Who: Are there certain people or certain businesses that, although they share a lot in common with the others in your opportunity, nevertheless fall outside the boundary? Why? Some people are not in my target clients because they would not pay for a service to organize their vacation.
What: At what point does the need you identified differ from another need? (Is thirst the same as hunger? Or is the desire to appear fashionable the same as the desire to be loved by others?)
Why: Is the underlying cause of the outsiders' need different than people who are inside the boundary? It is a service that they enjoy doing themselves or would not pay extra money for it. They don’t see the need for a travel service. They are happy with the existing methods.
Inside the boundary
Outside the boundary
Who is In: People who have a lot on their plates and who need some peace of mind when it comes to their vacation
Who is Not: People that enjoy planning their
Vacations and navigate the website to find the
best deal.
What the Need Is: A vacation planner
What the Need Is Not: No need for assistance,
Very independent individual.
Why the Need Exists: Not enough time to organize time off
Alternative Explanations: Not the most cost effective,
The service would be a luxury for them not a need.

The opportunity has limitations when it comes to who will buy the service. I learned with the first and second interviews of two of my stay home mom neighbors, that they do not need a service to help them organize their vacation, but because of their family situation, they would look for the best deals on their own.

On my third interview, my friend thought that it would be a luxury that she may not always afford. Sometimes she looks for the cheapest flight to decide which destination she would be heading to next.

The fourth and fifth interview were two of the department heads that were used to their assistant or secretary to organize their vacation or business trips, so that service would be maybe less helpful for them, since they don’t see the need for it.

  1. I think that this idea is extremely unique. When trying to do this assignment I found it most difficult to refine my idea because at this point I had already interviewed a plethora of different people and felt as though I had already refined my idea to the best of my ability. Upon interviewing more people, however, I realized that this was not true. In fact, I was able to further refine my idea, which is what you seemed to have done as well.
